Our Papers

The Art of the Print.

At Botanicus, the paper is not an afterthought — it is part of the art. Every print we produce is chosen to honour the integrity of the original illustration, rendered with the precision and depth it deserves.

Our Paper Stock.

All Botanicus fine art prints are produced on premium archival giclée paper — an uncoated fine art stock chosen for its exceptional surface quality, colour accuracy and longevity.

  • Weight: 240gsm
  • Surface: Uncoated fine art
  • Archival rating: 80 years
  • FSC Certified

Our Inks.

We print exclusively with archival pigment inks — chosen for their exceptional colour gamut, fade resistance and longevity. Unlike dye-based inks, pigment inks bond with the paper fibres to produce prints that remain vivid and stable for generations.

Why Giclée?

Giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) is the gold standard of fine art printing. Originally developed for museum-quality reproductions, giclée printing uses microscopic ink droplets to achieve a level of detail and tonal range that commercial printing simply cannot match.

The result is a print that captures every nuance of the original artwork — from the finest engraved line to the subtlest tonal gradation.

Sizes.

All prints are available in three sizes:

  • A4 — 210 × 297mm
  • A3 — 297 × 420mm
  • A2 — 420 × 594mm

Mounted prints are available in A4 and A3, presented on a deep white conservation mount board.

Caring For Your Print.

  • Frame behind UV-protective glass to prevent fading
  • Avoid hanging in direct sunlight or areas of high humidity
  • Handle by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the print surface
  • Store flat or rolled in acid-free tissue if unframed

Printed in Great Britain.
